IT’S TIME TO INVEST IN YOURSELF AND THE LIFE YOU WANT.
KATHLEEN CAMACHO, Psy.D.
PSYCHOLOGIST IN NYC AND NJ
Whether you’re seeking support for anxiety, depression, ADHD, or difficulties with your partner, at the core of my treatment is an understanding that we are two humans in a therapy space grappling with life’s ups and downs. With the tools I’ve learned, my hope is that we can create a life where things feel less harrowing and you feel empowered to live a life closer to what you want.
I’m a Spanish bilingual and bicultural psychologist with expertise in a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Parent Training, Exposure and Response Prevention, Organizational Skills Training, and Behavioral Activation. Additionally, I am trained in Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy. Though I no longer provide comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy, I incorporate skills into treatment when appropriate.
Do What Works, was inspired by my time as a DBT therapist prior to starting my own practice. The skill of ‘effectiveness’ or doing what works is based on the principle that in life it is important to live a life that is in line with our values and long-term goals. We are also mindful of the actions and decisions we make and strive to do things and take steps that get us closer to the life that we want. This means resisting urges to act on impulses that bring us further away from that hope of the life we have for ourselves.

HEre’s what I believe about therapy:
This isn't about becoming someone "different."
It’s about becoming more like yourself, which requires bravery and self-compassion.
The best investment you can make is in yourself or your child/teen’s wellbeing.
Together, we can work to bring your child or teen back to a place where they are free to play, be creative, happy, and form healthy, meaningful relationships.
You are inherently deserving of healthy and loving relationship.
Through couples therapy, we can work on strengthening your relationship and creating a healthier, more fulfilling partnership.
